For years, the Homer Skelton Foundation has been more than a partner to the DeSoto County Dream Center. They have become a trusted friend, a consistent supporter, and an example of what it looks like when a business and its family truly invest in their community.
Yes, they give financially. They faithfully support the Dream Center each month. They fund our Teacher Appreciation gifts, helping us honor the teachers who pour so much into their students. They also help make our annual Backpack Giveaway possible, providing thousands of children with backpacks and school supplies as they prepare for a new school year.
But if you ask us what makes Homer Skelton special, we would tell you:

At our annual Backpack Giveaway, the Homer Skelton family comes to serve alongside us. They help children shop for the school supplies they need, encouraging them and helping make what can sometimes be a stressful experience feel exciting and special. They also take the time to pray with children as they prepare to begin a new school year.
Those moments are hard to put a dollar value on.
Their team faithfully serves alongside us throughout the year, helping us fill our DREAM Closets in local schools with new clothing, shoes, school supplies, and personal hygiene items so children can have access to the things they need when they need them.
They have organized food drives to help fill the shelves of our Emergency Needs Closet, helping us provide food and essential items to families facing difficult circumstances.
And when there is a need, they show up.
Over the years, the Homer Skelton Foundation has also helped families during Christmas by providing gifts for children who might otherwise have gone without. They understand that sometimes meeting a need means providing something practical—and sometimes it means simply reminding a family that their community cares.
Their desire to meet needs goes beyond the physical, too. They understand that families sometimes need encouragement and hope as much as they need food or clothing. They have helped make sure devotion books are available to families, offering words of encouragement as they walk through difficult seasons of life.
