From Coffee to Community: Starbucks Helps Fill Our Emergency Needs Closet

Sometimes, the biggest impact starts with something as simple as a cup of coffee, and a heart to serve. ☕💚

The DeSoto County Dream Center is incredibly grateful to share that The Starbucks Foundation has selected us to receive a $4,000 Neighborhood Grant!

This grant was made possible through the nomination of local Starbucks partners (employees) who recognized the work happening at the Dream Center and believed in our mission to serve families across DeSoto County.

But our partnership with Starbucks goes beyond a grant.

A Partnership That Shows Up Every Week

Every week, a local Starbucks generously donates food to the Dream Center’s Emergency Needs Closet, helping ensure that families who visit us have access to fresh food they can take home.

And we believe food should be more than something that simply fills a need.

It should be fresh, yummy, fun, and full of love. 💚

From delicious food donations to everyday staples, these weekly contributions give our clients an opportunity to receive food for their families with dignity and care. What may seem like a simple donation can make a meaningful difference for a parent trying to stretch a grocery budget, a family facing an unexpected financial hardship, or a neighbor who simply needs a little extra help this week.

That is what community looks like.

More Than a Donation

Our Emergency Needs Closet is designed to meet immediate needs while helping connect families with resources and relationships that can lead toward long-term stability.

When a local Starbucks partner chooses to donate, they aren't just giving away food. They are helping a family put something good on the table.

When The Starbucks Foundation invests in the Dream Center, they aren't simply writing a check. They are investing in the people and families of DeSoto County.

And when local employees nominate organizations they care about through the Neighborhood Grants program, they help strengthen the connection between businesses, nonprofits, and the communities they call home.

$4,000 to Help Us Keep Serving

This year, The Starbucks Foundation received more than 43,000 nominations from Starbucks partners across the United States and Canada. More than 2,700 organizations were selected to receive Neighborhood Grants.

We are honored to be one of them.

The $4,000 grant will help the Dream Center continue providing practical support and building hope through our four pillars:

Education. Food. Clothing. Healthcare.

Each pillar represents an opportunity to meet people where they are and remind them that they are not alone.
